Mass Schedule

Holy Trinity Catholic School Students students in Grades K-6 will participate in a children’s mass on a weekly basis, Wednesday mornings at 8:30 a.m. The day of the week for mass may change if a Holy Day occurs on a different day during the week, or if school is closed on a Wednesday. Preschool and Prekindergarten students may attend mass at designated times. Uniforms are worn by Holy Trinity Catholic School students in Grades K-6 on Mass Days.

Parents are always welcomed and encouraged to participate in the children’s weekly masses. This will give them the good feeling that you are interested in their spiritual development.

Religion Ed. Curriculum

Religious education is the study of our Catholic faith where catechists intentionally pass on the traditions, beliefs, values, and practices of their religion. At Holy Trinity Catholic School this is done through regular religion classes in the classroom. participation in liturgies and para-liturgies, and service to others. To aide our teachers, the Diocese of Sioux Falls has created the Religious Education Curriculum Guidelines to follow. Any questions about the guidelines or the religious education curriculum at HTCS can be directed to the classroom teacher or school principal.

To view the guidelines visit the Sioux Falls Diocese Children’s Faith Formation website and click on Religious Education Curriclum Guidelines.

Religion

The Catholic faith is central to an education at Holy Trinity Catholic School. All students attend religion class, and students celebrate Mass once a week, which parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. Students participate in the Mass as lectors, Eucharistic ministers, musicians, and gift bearers. Classroom religious instruction prepares students for First Penance and First Communion. Non-Catholic students attend all religion classes and activities. Many such students have found that this instruction strengthens their own faith.

Sacraments

As a central part of the Catholic faith, the sacraments are a key feature of a Holy Trinity Catholic School education. All students attend Mass weekly where they may receive the Eucharist. Confession is available in school during the school year. Sacramental preparation is a part of the religion curriculum in the appropriate grades. In second grade, students prepare for First Reconciliation and First Communion. Anything important in life is worth doing well. That is also true for the celebration of the sacraments of our faith. For that reason we ask that families take an active role in preparing for sacraments.

Service Projects

We believe that Christian service is an important part of religious life. Christian service helps develop a strong sense of personal responsibility and commitment to the larger society. As a result, HTCS students contribute many hours throughout the year in service projects in our community. HTCS students, including those in preschool and prekindergarten, learn the meaning of sharing and giving back to our community by living their faith.
